Q: Do you have made tensile tests (direct or splitting tests) of concrete to get the tensile strength of concrete?
A: We conducted split tensile tests on 12 cube samples taken from the casting of precast girders. The mean tensile strength of the samples is 5.26 MPa with a Coefficient of Variation of 17.01%.
Note:
- The age of the samples at testing is between 150 to 200 days.
- The tensile strength shows a relatively higher scatter. Participants may use the test results or other methods to determine the tensile strength.
